Quiet but powerful response: Turkey shot down an unguided drone

Quiet but powerful work that delivers results. The Turkish Ministry of Defense confirmed: over the northern waters of the Black Sea an aerial object was detected approaching national airspace, and it was neutralized for safety.

Why this matters

Ankara’s response was no accident. Turkish F-16s, operating under NATO coordination and national command, put the object under observation and used force in a safe zone away from populated areas. For us this is confirmation: air security in the region is working, and partners are ready to act decisively.

An aerial object approaching our airspace was detected over the Black Sea and was taken under observation within standard procedures. In order to avoid negative consequences, the object was destroyed in a safe zone.

– Turkish Ministry of Defense

Ankara did not name the owner of the drone; officials said the device “went out of control.” This heightens tension after a recent incident on December 13, when another unmanned aerial vehicle struck the bridge of a Turkish vessel. Everyone is discussing how the growing UAV activity is affecting the safety of sea lanes and civilian ships.

World reaction and what comes next

Western analysts and insiders view the event as an important test of NATO’s readiness in the Black Sea. The world is alarmed by rising risks, but also sees the allies’ resolve in defending airspace. For Ukraine this is another reminder that reliable partners are capable of deterring threats near our shores.

This is a historic moment for regional security: Turkey’s actions show that even in a tense environment responsiveness and coordination produce results. Our partners will continue to strengthen control — and we must remain vigilant and deepen cooperation, because our home’s security depends on it.

EU Against Google: Why the Latest Fine Could Change More Than Previous Ones

# European Regulators Target Google Again — This Time Over Digital Markets Act Violations. What's Behind the Accusations and Why It Matters Beyond the Corporation European regulators have renewed their scrutiny of Google, this time focusing on alleged violations of the Digital Markets Act. The charges underscore Brussels' increasingly aggressive stance on big tech monopolies and what officials say are anticompetitive practices. The accusations center on how Google leverages its dominance across multiple digital services — from search to advertising to mobile platforms — to disadvantage competitors. Regulators claim the company is using its market power in ways that stifle innovation and limit consumer choice. The case carries significance far beyond Google itself. It signals how the EU is attempting to enforce its landmark Digital Markets Act, legislation designed to curb the gatekeeping power of tech giants. A potential penalty could set precedent for how other large technology companies face similar scrutiny. For consumers and smaller tech firms, the outcome could reshape the digital landscape by creating more room for competition. For Google, fines and operational restrictions could fundamentally alter its business model in Europe, the world's most stringent regulatory market. The case also reflects a broader geopolitical divide, with the EU pursuing a regulatory approach that contrasts sharply with the lighter-touch oversight favored in the United States.
