Bilohorodka Hosts Ukrainian Tug-of-War Championship

On the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, December 6–7, the Bilohorodka community in the Kyiv region hosted the Ukrainian Tug-of-War Championship. This was reported by village head Anton Ovsiienko.

Competition details

At the arena of the "Kolos" stadium in the village of Bilohorodka, the strongest teams from across Ukraine competed — from Lviv, Kyiv, the Kyiv region, Zhytomyr region and Khmelnytskyi region. In total, 50 teams took part in the championship, demonstrating team spirit, endurance and athletic strength.

The Bilohorodka community team also took part in the competition and gained invaluable experience competing against the Ukrainian champions. The team included residents of the villages of Horenychi and Stoyanka.

A revelation for the community

These competitions were a revelation for me, as tug-of-war is an incredibly spectacular sport in which the beauty of team coordination is combined with the precision of technique. Here not only strength wins, but above all proper coordination, rhythm, trust in one another and the ability to act as a single mechanism

– Anton Ovsiienko, Bilohorodka village head

A new role for the community

The championship was especially significant for the Bilohorodka community. Anton Ovsiienko headed the separate division of the Federation of the Strongest Athletes of Ukraine and Tug-of-War in the Kyiv region. This strengthens the community’s role in developing this sport at the national level.

The village head emphasized that the competition in Bilohorodka was not only a sporting event, but also a reminder of the power of unity – the same power that Ukrainian defenders, both men and women, demonstrate every day.

EU Against Google: Why the Latest Fine Could Change More Than Previous Ones

# European Regulators Target Google Again — This Time Over Digital Markets Act Violations. What's Behind the Accusations and Why It Matters Beyond the Corporation European regulators have renewed their scrutiny of Google, this time focusing on alleged violations of the Digital Markets Act. The charges underscore Brussels' increasingly aggressive stance on big tech monopolies and what officials say are anticompetitive practices. The accusations center on how Google leverages its dominance across multiple digital services — from search to advertising to mobile platforms — to disadvantage competitors. Regulators claim the company is using its market power in ways that stifle innovation and limit consumer choice. The case carries significance far beyond Google itself. It signals how the EU is attempting to enforce its landmark Digital Markets Act, legislation designed to curb the gatekeeping power of tech giants. A potential penalty could set precedent for how other large technology companies face similar scrutiny. For consumers and smaller tech firms, the outcome could reshape the digital landscape by creating more room for competition. For Google, fines and operational restrictions could fundamentally alter its business model in Europe, the world's most stringent regulatory market. The case also reflects a broader geopolitical divide, with the EU pursuing a regulatory approach that contrasts sharply with the lighter-touch oversight favored in the United States.
