Bucha bids farewell to Vitaliy Voityuk — a UAV operator killed in the Sumy region

Farewell in Bucha
According to the Bucha City Council, UAV operator Vitaliy Voytyuk was killed on 9 March 2026 while carrying out a combat mission in the Sumy region. This is a personal loss for the family and a reminder that the modern defense of the country is built on qualified specialists whose names sometimes measure not only battles but also daily self‑sacrifice.

Vitaliy moved with his family to Bucha in 2024 from Kostiantynivka in Donetsk. In 2025 he voluntarily mobilized into the ranks of the Defense Forces. He leaves behind his wife, a 9‑year‑old son, his parents and a brother who is also serving at the front. In civilian life he worked various jobs, was passionate about computers and cars; he was a caring father and a loyal friend.
Farewell and burial will take place on 13 March in the city of Bucha at the Alley of Heroes (1 Pamyati St.). Start — at 12:00. The information has been officially confirmed; attendees are asked to show respect to the family during the ceremony.
Role of the specialist and the wider context
Official reports of deaths are always a sad statistic that should be considered in a broader context. UAV operators today perform critically important tasks: reconnaissance, fire adjustment, and striking priority targets. Military analysts note that quality training and technical support for such specialists produce a noticeable tactical effect, even if this does not always make the headlines.
A funeral is a moment of collective memory and responsibility. Every loss raises questions about how communities and the state support the families of the deceased: materially, legally, psychologically. This is not rhetoric but a real test of society’s ability to turn grief into a system of support.
