Night Attack on Kyiv: Nine-Story Building in Darnytsia Damaged — City Authorities Report on Aftermath

What happened

On the night of Thursday, February 26, Kyiv suffered an enemy combined attack. According to the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko (source: UNN), Russian forces damaged a nine-story residential building in the Darnytskyi district.

Official data indicate that, fortunately, there were no casualties. Information about the circumstances and the extent of the damage is being clarified.

Consequences and operational response

In the Holosiivskyi district, falling debris caused garages to catch fire — the fire was contained. In the Pecherskyi district, a two-story private house burned; rescuers extinguished the blaze.

City Mayor Vitali Klitschko clarified that in Darnytskyi, the blast wave damaged the windows and doors of an apartment on the first floor of the nine-story building; there is no fire, and no injured persons were found.

"In the Holosiivskyi district, falling debris caused garages to catch fire. The fire was contained. In the Pecherskyi district there was a fire in a private house. The fire was extinguished."

Infrastructure and city life

According to the Kyiv City State Administration (KMDA), from February 26 the operation of electric public transport on the right bank is being restored — a sign of quick reaction to the consequences of the strikes and a return to the normal rhythm of the city.

In fact, today this is not only about property damage, but about a test of response systems: how quickly rescue services operate, how effective evacuation and restoration of communications are. This directly affects the safety of residents and the functioning of the city.

What to know and what’s next

Official sources (Kyiv City Military Administration, Kyiv City State Administration) report no casualties and that fires have been contained — this is a positive signal. At the same time, further clarifications should be expected regarding the assessment of damage to residential buildings and needs for recovery.

Questions for the coming days: will this attack have systemic consequences for the housing stock and infrastructure, and how will the readiness of city services to similar strikes change. The answers will determine how quickly residents can return to their usual rhythm of life.

"There were no casualties — but the work of the services continues, information will be updated."

— Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration (according to UNN)

EU Against Google: Why the Latest Fine Could Change More Than Previous Ones

# European Regulators Target Google Again — This Time Over Digital Markets Act Violations. What's Behind the Accusations and Why It Matters Beyond the Corporation European regulators have renewed their scrutiny of Google, this time focusing on alleged violations of the Digital Markets Act. The charges underscore Brussels' increasingly aggressive stance on big tech monopolies and what officials say are anticompetitive practices. The accusations center on how Google leverages its dominance across multiple digital services — from search to advertising to mobile platforms — to disadvantage competitors. Regulators claim the company is using its market power in ways that stifle innovation and limit consumer choice. The case carries significance far beyond Google itself. It signals how the EU is attempting to enforce its landmark Digital Markets Act, legislation designed to curb the gatekeeping power of tech giants. A potential penalty could set precedent for how other large technology companies face similar scrutiny. For consumers and smaller tech firms, the outcome could reshape the digital landscape by creating more room for competition. For Google, fines and operational restrictions could fundamentally alter its business model in Europe, the world's most stringent regulatory market. The case also reflects a broader geopolitical divide, with the EU pursuing a regulatory approach that contrasts sharply with the lighter-touch oversight favored in the United States.
